This walking tour is an encompassing itinerary that spans the city’s history from its origins to the present day.

It is most suited for first-time visitors or for those who have been to Florence a long time ago and need a “refresher”. The itinerary is mostly outdoors and it unfolds in the ancient core of the city between the river Arno and the Duomo. and covers famous monuments such as:

  • The Ponte Vecchio, the oldest standing bridge in Florence

  • Piazza della Signoria, the political center of the city, with the imposing Palazzo Vecchio, ancient seat of the Florentine government

  • Orsanmichele, an ancient granary turned popular church, intersection between economy, politics and religion in Medieval Florence

  • Piazza della Repubblica, sitting on the area of the ancient forum, later the city’s Medieval market, and to this day still the heart of Florence’s commercial district

  • The Duomo, Florence’s Cathedral and spiritual center of the city, with the adjacent Giotto’s Campanile and the ancient Baptistery, the oldest building in Florence.

The tour can last a half-day (morning or afternoon, 3 hours) or a full-day (morning + afternoon, 6 hours with a break). The longer version covers more monuments and includes some interiors (for example: Duomo ; Baptistery; Orsanmichele; Palazzo Vecchio).
